Today is the 20th anniversary of Gundam SEED in the United States, since it was twenty years today that the anime series aired on the block Toonami (a part of Cartoon Network) in a heavily edited format, removing shots of extreme violence, blood, and nudity, removing all cursing ("damn", "hell", "sh*t", etc.), cutting down on the usage of the words "kill", "die", and "death", and even turning handguns into something the community calls "disco guns". I might live in Canada (where we didn't get the anime until later that year, and I will say something about that later on), but I still thought it would be nice to say something and acknowledge that the anime first came to North America this day twenty years ago.

Flashbacks to 2006 -_-

Something I really didn't want to write up, but recently had no other choice but to do so. So, the first six minutes of the new Gundam movie, "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom" has been posted onto the official Gundam YouTube channel until May 31, 2024. The first video is the Japanese version with English subtitles, and the second video is the English dubbed version, done by The NYAV Post instead of The Ocean Group. Here's a quick screencap of the video's English dub: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wug2zOocRGg Using an extention to allow dislikes on YouTube to be viewed again, we can see there are 702 likes and just 274 dislikes. Must be a vocal minority who dislikes it, right? But if you take a look at the comment section (670+ comments) below, you will find it to be a mere 1% excitement, and 99% hatred of the dub all because it's not The Ocean Group dubbing the movie and accusations of certain names not being pronounced correctly, and also the haters going around and harrassing
